OUR WATERCRAFT

CANOES:
Baldwin Canoe Rental has the largest fleet of canoes in the North Central United States. Our fleet is predominately 17' aluminum canoes made by Michicraft. In recent years we have steadily increased the number of polyethylene canoes in our fleet, made by Old Town Canoe Company. The polyethylene canoes are much more quiet, and the seats are more comfortable. We make an effort to always provide the polyethylene canoes to our midweek customers. We do not reserve specific brands of canoes on busy Saturdays, but will do our best to accommodate you. All of our canoes have seating for two people. If you have a small child there is room to seat them on a cushion in the middle.

KAYAKS:
Our solo kayaks have become a huge hit over the last several years. We feature the Old Town Otter and the Old Town Loon for heavier paddlers. Our kayaks were designed with the beginner in mind, and are a great way to introduce youngsters to paddlesports.

TANDEM KAYAKS:
These are a great option for one adult with a child, or 2 adults with a combined weight of less than 400 lbs. All of our kayaks have seats with back support, large cockpits for easy exit in case of a tip-over, and are built for stability rather than speed.

RAFTS:
Baldwin Canoe Rental features 6-person inflatable rafts made by Hyside inflatables. These rafts will hold 4 to 6 adults comfortably, and are built tough enough for any river. We also have smaller 4-person rafts made by Star Inflatables. Rafting is a fantastic way to enjoy the Pere Marquette River along with your family. They are especially nice for small children, senior citizens, or any group with concerns of getting wet, (Rafts don't tip).

TUBES:
Baldwin Canoe Rental does have Tubes for rent on specific sections of the river. Many sections of the Pere Marquette are not suitable for tubing, and we do not allow tubes to be taken with other watercraft trips. We have two tubing trips available: A 1 hr. trip costs $10.00 per tube. A 3 hr. trip is $15.00 per tube. If you wish to take our tubes to a different location, tubes can also be rented on a self-haul basis for $10.00 per day.

We are featuring "Tube Pro" float tubes, made specifically for commercial use. These tubes are heavy duty with canvass covers. They are large enough to accommodate adults of all sizes. We also have a supply of smaller tubes for children.

All watercraft, including tubes, require a U.S. Forest Service daily permit. This permit is included with rental of our tubes. We do not haul private tubes to or from the river.

Due to the water temperature of the Pere Marquette, tubing is only practical during June, July, and August.

EQUIPMENT:
Baldwin Canoe Rental strives to maintain top quality equipment at all times. We are known for our quality service and equipment. Each year we sell a number of used canoes and kayaks, and replace them with new ones to keep our fleet of rental equipment up to date. We have enough Old Town canoes in stock, (the most requested canoe) to be able to supply most requests on weekends. All river equipment is State inspected each year to insure safety. Baldwin Canoe Rental is one of only a few rentals in West Michigan that provide transportation as a service. We have a fleet of newer busses and vans and also contract with a local bus company to service our clients.

THE PERE MARQUETTE SHIRT SHOP:
The Pere Marquette Shirt Shop is located right at the main office of Baldwin Canoe Rental, which is three miles South of Baldwin, on M-37. Our gift shop is filled with many unique clothing items: t-shirts, sweat shirts, jackets, shorts, hats and items you may have forgotten for your river trip.
