RESERVATION DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT   POLICIES:
Saturday "Prime Time" advanced reservations  require full payment. Many Saturdays in July and  August fill in advance of the trip date. Reservations can be made by phone, we accept MC, Visa, and Discover Cards.  We also accept checks for advance reservations.  Some group leaders are choosing to simply start the group reservation by paying for only their own rental and having the rest of the party to call individually to pay with their own credit cards.  This is fine, but make sure all members in your group inform us that they are adding on to a current group reservation.

 

Weekday reservations are not necessary, however we do appreciate a phone call prior to your arrival so we can be better prepared to serve you. 

SATURDAY CANCELLATION POLICY:
Cancellations are accepted up to 7 days (1 week) prior to trip date, however there is a $10.00 per watercraft charge for all cancellations. Any cancellations of watercraft within 7 days of trip can expect no refunds.

WHAT HAPPENS IF BAD WEATHER OCCURS?
No refunds are issued due to undesirable weather. However, in the event of high water or continuing dangerous weather, you will be entitled to a credit letter for the value of your trip. Good through the following year.

SECURITY DEPOSITS:
We charge a security deposit for each group while using our equipment and facilities. The amount of the security deposit is determined by the size of the group. One to five canoes or kayaks is $25 for the group. Six to ten is $50 for the group. Over ten is $100 for the group, (payable upon arrival at our office). It must be paid in cash and will be returned in cash upon checking out. The cost for lost or damaged equipment will be deducted from the security deposit. Note: The security deposit has nothing to do with making reservations.

Note: If your group is camping at the Pere Marquette Campground, you can pay your security deposit there upon arrival.

 

WHY CHARGE A SECURITY DEPOSIT?
Baldwin Canoe Rental has been in business since 1968. We started charging security deposits in 1985. At that time we were spending thousands to replace lost and broken equipment. The security deposit has changed this into spending hundreds to replace equipment. Our philosophy is "He who loses or damages the equipment, should pay for it". It should not be added to everyone's bill as a cost of doing business. In our experience, 99% of groups have all of their deposits returned.
